Lensbaby Velvet 56 Review

Most filmmakers and still photographers love tools that are going to make their photography more creative or fun. I recently read a great interview with a great and very successful photographer, Irene Suchocki of Eye Poetry Photography. She talked about how she sometimes uses lenses by a company called Lensbaby to get some of the special effects she achieves in her photography. As I have a Canon, I referred to Amazon for purchase information on the Velvet6 56 lens, which looks absolutely amazing.

It has a lot of super features according to the manufacturers, including:

  • Versatile portrait lens with macro capabilities
  • 56mm f/1.6-16 with 1:2 Macro, focuses from 5″
  • All-metal lens body
  • Creates velvety, glowing images at brighter apertures
  • Delivers sharp but subtly unique images at darker apertures

I do most of my “dreamy” photography with Photoshop and Lightroom, which I love. But wouldn’t it be nice to have a lens would give the same effect? Everyone seems pretty happy with the product, here is a Lensbaby Velvet 56 review.

I may not use this lens every day, but I think it would be an awesome addition to my other lenses.
